Michael Morpurgo - Shadow

Michael Morpurgo's novel Shadow has won this year's Red House children's book award, which is voted for by young readers.
It is a third win for Morpurgo, who becomes the only author to do so in the award's 31-year history.

Shadow tells the story of boy who is befriended by an army sniffer dog in Afghanistan."Shadow was a difficult book to write because I was writing about a contemporary conflict," Murpurgo said. His book, which is partly set at a detention centre for asylum seekers in the UK, was published last September.

Bookspread has been specialising in supplying books to schools in south London for over 35 years, first from our original base in Tooting and now from West Dulwich. Two experienced teachers started the company and we continue that tradition with former teachers as part of our team. Dulwich Books, based at 6 Croxted Road, West Dulwich, has a 30 year hertage of meeting the needs of customers in the shop and working with local schools. We are now working together to offer a persoanl service to local schools under the label Dulwich Books Education.
